In the 1850 census, Samuel is listed as living with parents Christian and Sarah at age 33. (see census) Wife Susan had died by this time. The children, interestingly, are listed separately on the next page as in a separate household. William was only 11 at this time, so that is not at all likely. Is it possible that they were living with a neighboring family, perhaps the Cheneys? However, they are not included in the same household number with the Cheneys.  Perhaps more  likely, Samuel was visiting his parents when the census taker came by and was mistakenly listed along with his parents and then the census taker failed to correct this mistake when he arrived at Samuel's house, which was close by.  (see census)  William, at age 21, was listed as living with his father in the 1860 census.
