The 1850 census, taken when Henry was 26, list two children: Sarah age 3 and George age one. Also living in the household was 12 year old Austin Hootzel. The 1860 census list additional children, along with Sarah and George,: Eliza age 8, William age 6, Helen age 4 and Rhoda age 10 months. William Metz is also listed in the household as a laborer.
