Richard Edward Garlitz

Richard was the postmaster and storekeeper at Avilton. "Mr. Garlitz took a great interest in church affairs, and his death was a keen blow to the pastor."  From the history of St. Ann's Mission

Richard was the first postmaster of the Avilton Post Office and continued until his death when his wife Susan took over. The position went next to her daughter, Adell and her husband Joshua Turner until its closing.
