Susan Hare Langlois 15/Aug/2002:16:36:54
Just happened on your site, as trying to find connections to my family
name of Hare, but not sure any. My people were from Alabama and
originally from South Carolina, and of course Scotland, England and
Ireland before that.

Thanks, interesting viewing anyway.

I am so thankful for the information that you have on the McKenzie
family on your website I have been doing research for nearly eight
years on the McKneize family and I had most of the information but
looking at the information that you have here has helped me to fill in
some of the holes thanks again ,

Hi! My relatives include my maternal grandmother, Flora Etta Garletts
who was a daughter of Martin Francis and Anna Philippi Garletts. My
grandmother died in 1975 and my mother knows very little of her
ancestry. My understanding is that Martin was the son of Henry and
Lavina Friend Garlitz. Does any one know any thing about this part of
the family and why there was a name change? I've just started
searching this side of my family and would be interested in any info.

Bob Garlett   07/Jul/2002:18:31:02
Hi Tom. Forgot to mention that I have been told that my family name of
Garlett was shortened from Garletts.
Thanks Bob Garlett

Rebecca Garlits Pouc   15/Jun/2002:07:15:57
My father was George LeVan Garlits son of Edward Elmer Garlits (1888-
1965) and grandson of Henry Garlits. His mother was Mabel Irene
Booth. Don Garlits is my half uncle. In 1966 my grandmother (Mabel)
wrote: "Your grandfather Garlits used to tell me that his family were
of German descent but no one knew when they came over. The names
Garlitz (family spelling) and Eicher are German names. His mother was
an Indian girl, from the Choctaw tribe. [This matches what Don
Garlits stated.] His mother was a lovely person. She taught Sunday
School, Methodist. Had 9 children. Your grandfather was the
youngest. His brothers were fine men. One, a banker, one on the B -&-
O RR all his life, conductor, one had a radio store, one an artist.
The girls were all married and nice folks..."

This is a great site! Thanks for all the work that's been put into it.

County, Md., but nothing after that. They are my great Aunt and Uncle.

This website is so wonderful. I really enjoy getting the update
letters and checking out what new information all of our cousins have
come up with. It sure makes it a lot easier than trying to find all of
the information on your own. It is nice to see that we have such an
extended family we didn't even know about.

Judy Hammond   01/May/2002:19:44:19
You are doing such a great job on the website! Very impressive. Thank
you for all your hard work.

My great grandmother was Sarah (Sadie) Ellen Garlitz, daughter of
Theodore Henry (or Henry Theodore) Garlitz.

This is incredible; I was just fooling around and I found my way to
your website. My grandmother was Nancy (Carrie) Garletts who was
married to Ernest Davenport. I couldn't believe it when I saw their
names. Thank you for this wonderful site.

Jen   18/Apr/2002:07:41:39
Cousin Jen here!

I have a giant folder of Garlitz history. Much of it is an oral history
given to me by my grandmother. According to her and other
sources I have found, it seems there are 3 major groupings of us.
One is in PA, one in MI and another in CO. From these 3 states we
have done a bit of wandering - amazing how such a "small" family
can spread so far.

Beware! There is another Garlitz family out there that is Polish
although I am not all that sure that we are not related some 600
years back or so...

In far Eastern Germany, near the Polish border there is a town
called Goerlitz. It is possible that the family stems from this town,
but this is pure speculation and I have absolutely no evidence. If
anyone has any information of the actual area of Prussia our
Garlitz family is from, I would be very interested in seeing that
posted here!

Tom, you have provided a wonderful service for all of us!

I've been working on the Garlitz genealogy for 30 years --- long ago
decided they walked on the water to get here and then changed their
name so no one would ever decipher just who they were. You're doing a
great job! I'll help you with any information I have.

My great grandfather was Joseph Aden Garlitz. He died about 1946.
He is buried in " the Campground Cemetary " near Tunnelton, Wv. Joseph
Aden was the son of John C. Garlitz and the brother of Nancy Garlitz
Sterling (married George Sterling). John C. Garlitz is burried in the
Catholic Cemetary at Borgman Wv (near Kingwood, Wv)I believe this

geneology is consistent with previous comments that I made in your guest
book.

about this line of my ancestors. I am a 3rd great granddaughter of

Welcome to the Garlitz Family History Guestbook. If you are looking for
information on your line of the Garlitz Family and have not been able
to find it on our website, we invite you to post your inquiry here.
Perhaps one of your Garlitz cousins will know the answer. This project
depends upon the contributions of the extended Garlitz family, so we
are always happy for your contributions. I hope you enjoy your visit to the Garlitz Family
History Website. Cousin Tom
