Faye G. Garlitz

LORAIN -- Faye G. Garlitz (nee Crowe), 92, of Lorain, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family early Sunday, June 15, 2008, in Community Health Partners, Lorain, following a brief illness.
She was born on April 9, 1916, in Lords, Md., to the late Edward L. and Emma K. (nee Wilhelm) Crowe. Mrs. Garlitz moved more than 60 years ago from Maryland to Lorain, where she has resided for the remainder of her life.

 
She was a faithful member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Lorain, where she generously volunteered her time and efforts. Mrs. Garlitz was a member of the church's Marian Guild and formerly was a member of the P. T. U. of the St. Anthony School. She loved cooking and baking. She enjoyed sharing her baked goods with relatives and friends.

Mrs. Garlitz is survived by her loving son, Gilbert G. (Iris) Garlitz of Amherst; her daughters Bonnie G. Garlitz with whom she made her home in Lorain, Inez L. (Joe) Oberle of Lorain and Fayann Garlitz of Dayton; her brothers Edward Crowe of Avilton, Md., Glenn Crowe of Amherst and Ronnie Crowe of South Amherst; her sisters Betty Garlitz of Sheffield Lake, Ida Morgan and Mabel Horn, both Baltimore and Emma Walker of Avilton, Md.; her grandchildren Amanda, Greta, DJ and Sarah; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Paul E. Garlitz, on July 15, 1977; her brothers Ellis Crowe and Gilbert Crowe; and her sister, Mary Engle.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 W. Erie Ave., Lorain, where a rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. by the Marian Guild. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Lorain, with the Rev. Fr. Joseph West.OFM Conv., pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church celebrating. Burial will be on Thursday, June 19, 2008, in St. Ann Cemetery, Avilton (Garrett Co.), Md.
