Obituary for Victoria B. Garlitz

GARLITZ Victoria B. Garlitz, 90, of Berlin RD 4, died July 24, 1988. Born at Avilton, Md., Oct. 23, 1897, a daughter of the late William and Laura (Garlitz) Broadwater. Also preceded in death by two husbands, Blaine VanGilder and James S. Garlitz. Survived by a son, Donald E. VanGilder, Berlin; two daughters: Mrs. Olive Brode, Berlin, with whom she resided; and Mrs. Virginia (Billie) Platt, Stow, Ohio; two brothers: Enoch Broadwater, East Canton, Ohio, and Paul Broadwater, Hammond, La.; a sister, Mrs. Rose Miller, Chesapeake, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Grantsville, Md., and St. Ann's Christian Wives and Mothers. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Md., Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass will be held Wednesday 11:30 a.m., St. Ann's Catholic Church, Grantsville, with Father William Moody. Christian Wake will be Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment, St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Avilton, Md. Daily American, July 25, 1988
