Pauline E. Garlitz Ralston Martunas

Pauline E. Martunas, Jonestown, died Sunday morning at Pottsville Hospital.

Born in Avilton, Md., she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Carrie Durst Garlitz. She attended Maryland schools and moved to the Minersville area in 1945.

Prior to retiring, she was a cook at the Minersville Area High School cafeteria. She also had been employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp., Fairfield, Md., and Glen Martin Air Industries, Baltimore, Md.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Minersville, and the parish BVM Sodality, Knights of Lithuania Council 144 and the former Knights of Columbus Auxiliary Council 2001.

Preceding her in death were her first husband, William Ralston; three brothers, Joseph, Lawrence and Lemuel Garlitz; four sisters, Martha Bittinger, Nancy Garlitz, Adell Swauger and Mary Garlitz. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Joseph Martunas; two sons, Freeman Ralston, Minersville, and William Ralston, Jonestown; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces.

Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday from Dutcavich Funeral Home, Minersville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. from St. Francis of Assisi Church by the Rev. David C. Liebner. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Branch Township.
