Miriam Elizabeth Garlitz, 74, of 178 S. Grant St., Salisbury, died March 1, 1996, at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born Oct. 4, 1921, in Summit Township. Daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Glotfelty) Hetrick. Also preceded in death by husband, Sam Garlitz, Dec. 27, 1986, and her brother, Mark. Survivors include 2 sons: David and Sam Garlitz Jr., both of Salisbury; 2 daughters: Mary, married to Richard Shunk, Salisbury; Ruth, married to Tom Romesburg Jr., Hyndman; a sister, Rhea Hetrick, Salisbury, and 2 grandsons: Marc and Michael Shunk. Member of St. John's Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church Women. Was a Sunday School teacher. Also member of Salisbury American Legion Auxiliary. A lifelong homemaker. Friends were received Sunday at the Newman Funeral Home Inc., Salisbury. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating.
