JOSEPH E. GARLITZ Joseph E. Garlitz, 63, who retired as a printer with the Lebanon, Pa., Daily News, died Thursday, March 28, 1985, at his home in Lebanon. He was formerly employed by the Times and Alleganian Company of Cumberland, Maryland. He was born in Salisbury on April 8, 1921. He was a son of Mrs. E. Jane (Daugherty) Garlitz, Corriganville, Maryland, and the late Frank E. Garlitz. He had moved to Lebanon from Corriganville 17 years ago, and formerly attended St. John's United Church of Christ, Corriganville. He served as an aviation machinist with the Navy in World War II and was a member of Salem Chapter 8, Royal Arch Masons; Antioch Commandery 6, Knights Templar; Potomac Lodge 100, AF&AM; Zembo Shrine Temple, Harrisburg; and the Friendship Fire Company and Fred Fuhrman Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 23 in Lebanon. Besides his mother, he is survived by his widow, the former Mary Jane Emerick; two sons, Joseph E. Garlitz II, St. Mary's; James E. Garlitz, Corriganville; one brother, Donald Garlitz, Mechanicsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Stein, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Lois Matthews, Corriganville, and four grandchildren.
