DEATH OF JOSEPH GARLITZ
Joseph Garltiz, aged 60 years, 6 months, and 23 days, died at his residence in Elk Lick township at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon after an illness of many months. Mr. GARLITZ was a son of Christian GARLITZ and was born in Garrett County, MD. He came to Somerset county in early manhood, and for many years was a resident of West Salisbury. Some years ago he purchased a small farm southeast of town on which he resided at the time of his death. The deceased was married to Ellen BREIG, a daughter of Mrs. Phoebe BREIG of this place, and is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Fanny BAKER of Frostburg, MD, Mrs. Gertrude BRANT of Butler and Earl GARLITZ of Akron, Ohio.
Interment will be made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery Friday afternoon.

Ellen Brieg was relations of the McKenzies and Weimers often found in the Garlitz family tree. See additional Breig family records.

"My grandmother was Clara Emma MCKENZIE, youngest daughter of Joseph McKenzie and Margaret Klingaman. Clara married George F. BREIG, son of Ambrose BREIG and brother to the Elizabeth Rose BREIG who married Ozias WEIMER. Joseph McKenzie's sister was Drucilla MCKENZIE who was the mother of Osias WEIMER. There weren't that many people in the area then...and fewer Catholics." Betty Smith
