Mr and Mrs. Henry E. Franke (This was Elizabeth's daughter Frances) on a trip west spent an afternoon and evening with him and his family at the restaurant in Topeka. Jacob visited his relatives in LaGrange and Noble Co.

He was the clown of the children and full of fun and  mischief.

Jake would line up those brothers & sisters at home,  they barefoot, he with right shoe and stocking and  left foot barefoot; then make them follow him around saying "Pompy shoe, pompy shoe, pompy shoe,"  stomping with his right shoe as he went.  He would stop, turn around and say to the others, "Ye barefooted divils get back in the rear and you with your pompy shoe get in front."
